A 17th-century living history weekend with special guest presentation on Historic St. Luke’s most revered patron, Joseph Bridger. Period vendors, modern food vendors, and musical performances available to general public.

Saturday, September 10, 2016

  • 9:30 a.m. Gift Shop, Museum, and Vendors Opens to Public.
  • 11:00 a.m. Chief “RedHawk” Brown, Che Notto presentation in Church Building. Brown will be giving a lecture on the history of the Cheroenhaka Tribe and its context in the 17th century.
  • 2:00 p.m. Dr. Doug Owsley presentation in Church Building. Dr. Doug Owsley, Division Head of Physical Anthropology for the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History, will present on the enduring legacy of the Written in Bone project that included the exhumation and study of Joseph Bridger.
  • 3:00 p.m. Mr. Bill Hodsden, HSLR Board Member & Bridger Family Association Member presents on “The Future of Whitemarsh”
  • 7:00 p.m. The Locrian Consort performs popular music from the 1680s heard by Bridger and others
  • 8:00 p.m. Twilight Cemetery Tours led by Smithfield Tourism’s Kathy Mountjoy. (limited availability, first-come, first-served, registrations begin at 9:30 a.m. at the front desk)
  • 9:00 p.m. Gift Shop and Museum Closes to the Public
