Religion and the Constitution Zoom Lecture

March 19, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Free

Free event, registration required, Live via Zoom

Is the United States of America a Christian nation? A secular nation? The answer to both questions is no. So, what exactly does the Constitution allow and prohibit? How did issues of religion help shape the debate over ratification in 1787 and 1789? How is it that both Pro-slavery and Abolitionists were opposed to the Constitution? What compromises allowed ratification to occur? What subsequent amendments have altered the role of religion in government? St. Luke’s Education Coordinator, John Ericson, will discuss these issues via Zoom.
