Cancelled: Religion and the Constitution Lecture 2021

Lecture by John Ericson, St. Luke’s Outreach Coordinator
Zoom Lecture, Saturday, March 20 at 1 p.m.

Is the United States of America a Christian nation? A secular nation? The answer to both questions is no. So what exactly does the Constitution allow and prohibit? How did issues of religion help shape the debate over ratification in 1787 and 1789? How is it that both Pro-slavery and Abolitionists were opposed to the Constitution? What compromises allowed ratification to occur? What subsequent amendments have altered the role of religion in government?

St. Luke’s Outreach Coordinator, John Ericson, will discuss these issues on March 20 at 1:00 p.m. via Zoom.
