Cemetery Preservation Workshops

In Fall 2016, the Education Department at St. Luke’s presented its first Cemetery Preservation Workshop. This workshop program is a free workshop designed to provide volunteers with the training and knowledge they need to complete minor cleaning and care of historic tombstones and monuments. They are hands-on workshops that are also intended to provide a safe space for volunteers to practice some of these new skills under the supervision of the St. Luke’s Education Coordinator.

Our Cemetery Preservation Workshops not only provide our volunteers and local community with applicable knowledge of historic cemetery care but also supports the Ancient Cemetery at St. Luke’s by providing much-needed and loving care of the oldest monuments in our cemeteries.

These workshops are held on Saturdays throughout the warmer months of late spring, summer, and early fall. The necessary tools for the workshop are provided as well as complimentary lunch.

Reserving a spot is encouraged as these workshops often fill to capacity months in advance.
