Daniel Anderson, Sr. (c.1936 – 2010)

Veteran of the U.S. Navy

“Retired Master Chief Hull Maintenance Technician (DV) Daniel Dean Anderson Sr., 74, passed away peacefully at home Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, his family at this side, after courageously battling renal cancer for the past four years. A native of Randallman, N.C., he was the son of the late Jim S. and Erma Jean Warren Anderson. He had lived in the Tidewater area for the past 35 years. Dan proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and retired with 27 years of service. He then continued his career with the Norfolk Public Works Center, civil service, and completed 20 years of service. Dan was a member of the American Legion and was a member of the VFW, Tidewater and Post 49, Smithfield. He was also a life member of the Norview Masonic Lodge No. 113, Norfolk. He enjoyed life to the fullest and was an avid fisherman. Dan was passionate about hunting and the great outdoors. He was a member of the Chuckatuck Hunt Club and the Darden Store Hunt Club. He will be sorely missed by his friends, family and “hunting buddies” in the community. Dan was a member of Faith Freewill Baptist Church and was involved in many aspects of the church. A beloved father, grandfather and brother, Dan was loved and respected by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by his wife, June Leone Anderson, and brother and sisters, Alfred, L.E., David, and Donald and Madeline and Peggy. Left to cherish his memories are his daughters, Holly Sue Anderson, Sherry Adair Patton, Sybil N. Acey (Randy) and Heather Leigh Estelle Geyer (Aaron); his son, Daniel Dean Anderson Jr. and stepsons, Mark Anthony Lewis (Tammy) and Kevin Michael Lewis (Audra); 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; and his sister, Phyllis A. Ellis…”1
