Glenn Aubrey Hoy (1934 – 2017)

Veteran of the U.S. Navy

“SMITHFIELD – Glenn Aubrey Hoy, 83, of Smithfield Va. lost his courageous battle with cancer on Friday, October 6, 2017. He was born January 9, 1934 in Staunton VA, and was the son of the late Ella Florence Shepherd and Guy Oliver Hoy. Glenn served his country in the Navy, attended Penn State University, and retired from Newport News Shipbuilding after 38 years. He then went on to own his own construction company. He is survived by his beloved wife Gail Hoy, his little dog Aubrey, and his six children; Glenn A. (Debbie) Hoy, II, Lesa (Andy) Ankney, Sonja (Tony) Brown, Rodney D. (Kim) Hoy, Steve Waddell (Becky Reed), Debra Locke (Steve Remesic), two sisters; Mary Joan Bower (Ted), and Valerie Tilley; 19 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by a brother, G.O. Hoy and two sisters, Irene Wakefield and Betty Fisher…”1
