Inclusive Weddings

St. Luke’s Historic Church & Museum takes pride in the fact that persons of any faith or sexual orientation can be married in our church. The roots in religious freedom are strong at St. Luke’s, and underpin our mission of historic preservation. It’s only natural that we allow wedding ceremonies of any denomination in our historic church building.

While the church no longer has an active congregation or affiliation with a specific religion, it still a historic and sacred space. If you have questions about the guidelines outlined for the use of our church space, please reach out and book a tour. Our Sales & Services manager is happy to answer your queries. We can also put you in touch with vendors to help you decorate for your wedding ceremony and reception–if you need flowers, tents, catering and wedding planning, we are happy to share a list of trusted wedding professionals who have worked with St. Luke’s and are familiar with our venue. Please note that couples are not restricted to using our preferred vendor list. One of the perks of getting married at St. Luke’s is that you have the freedom to plan your wedding however you choose!

We welcome all faiths and same-sex couples to celebrate their love in our historic church. St. Luke’s is the perfect wedding venue for an intimate ceremony, and the expansive grounds provide myriad options for an outdoor wedding reception. Being an LGBTQ+ friendly wedding venue and a non-denominational wedding venue is important as we look to the future and support all communities. Your wedding day is an important celebration, and St. Luke’s would be honored to be the backdrop for your ceremony. Make your story part of our history by joining the hundreds of happy couples who have been married in our historic church in Smithfield, Virginia.
